Is it Possible to Gain Muscles without a Gym? Things to know

Admin 30-10-2020

Going to a gym requires time out of your schedule and effort to get there and start working out. Moreover, you need to pay for your time there and for the exercise you do. Naturally, many of you may have thought at least once if it’s possible to reap the benefits of the gym without actually having to go there.

The most popular question in the same series is how you can gain muscles without ever going to the gym. In one of our previous blogs, we have discussed how muscle tissues use up extra calories to repair it even when you rest. So in a way, you burn the extra calories and fat while resting thanks to the muscles in your body.

Therefore, every fitness enthusiast wants to know if a person can gain muscles without going to a gym.

Can you really build muscle without going to a gym?

Gyms provide you with better equipment, a motivating atmosphere, and fitness trainers to guide your exercising routine. There are certain exercises like weight training that need specific equipment. The gyms give you that equipment to let you train the way you want. Ultimately, it allows you to reach your fitness goals faster and more effectively.

When we think of gaining muscles, most of us will usually think of weight training as it is the most efficient way to gain muscles. Nevertheless, people who are not able to go to a gym, often wonder if they can get the same results without going to the gym.

It is not impossible to build muscles without a gym. However, there are certain things you will need to consider before making up your mind.

It takes a long time and dedication

Now, you may think what’s wrong with that? Everyone needs time and dedication to reach their fitness goals. Without that, you cannot stay fit and healthy. But, without the guidance of a personal trainer, you will need more time and energy to figure out what works for you the best.

Usually, if you go to a gym, your fitness trainer is the one to create an exercise routine according to the goal you want to achieve. All you need to do is follow the routine with dedication and reach your fitness goal.

But when you do it on your own at your home, you will need to go through a trial and error method to discover which exercises work best for your body. That alone will take incredible time out of your schedule.

When you are at home, you need to motivate yourself to exercise daily. No one will push you to work harder. In such a case, if your motivation decreases, you will have a hard time following through with your exercising.

You are your own guide

As mentioned in the earlier point, when you are working out at home, there is no one to guide you on the right path for your fitness. You may think that finding out the equipment-less workout for muscle building from the internet will be of help to you. However, not every workout routine is suitable for everyone.

Based on your body type, your eating habits, and your lifestyle, your exercise schedule may differ from what you see on the internet. And so, you will have to understand your own body type and create an optimal exercise routine.

Again, it will be a long time before you finally figure out what works best for you. Not to mention that your body keeps changing with time, eating habits, and lifestyle.

And that brings us to our next point…

It will be long before you see a slight difference

When you are on a trial and error phase of your physical exercise, you may tend to change your workout routines quite often. This means that you are not giving the exercises enough time to show any kind of result.

This does not happen when you work out at a gym. The fitness trainer will assess your fitness level, your dietary habits, and your lifestyle. Accordingly, he/she will create a workout routine for you. This saves a lot of time and energy that you might use up while working out on your own.

So, all the time you may spend testing will be cut short because of the gym instructor and so you will be able to stick to one routine for longer. Naturally, that will take lesser time compared to visually see the difference.

You may become prone to injuries

With any kind of physical activity, injuries are bound to happen if you don’t take proper care. Exercising without the right techniques may also result in internal or external injuries. Because of these injuries, many people end up losing the motivation to exercise altogether.

At a gym, the fitness trainer always shares tips, tricks, techniques, and poses to do any exercise correctly. If you follow these tips, your chances of getting injured are low. And in case you do get injured, the trainer and staff are adept in taking care of such injuries to reduce the pain and induce faster recovery.

Inconsistency will lead to no result

We have to agree to the fact that there are times when we do not feel like exercising or leaving the bed itself. At such times, knowing that a personal trainer is waiting for you or realizing that you have paid a certain amount for your fitness will hold you accountable.

These factors act as a driver for you to get up and go to the gym to work out. But if you are not going to the gym, there will be no accountability. And so, you may think that one day without exercising is okay. That one day may turn to two, then a week, a month, and then you may leave the idea of working out altogether.

This inconsistency may be a side-effect of seeing no difference in your fitness for a long time or being lazy and procrastinating. Whatever the reason might be, in the end, it will give you no solid result.

Conclusion

Working out at home might be comfortable for many people. Especially people with gym anxiety may look forward to it. Nonetheless, to gain sturdy muscles and reduce body fat, going to a gym is a better option.

The gym provides you different equipment and techniques to gain muscles and maintain them. It reduces the time and effort required to understand what your body needs. Accordingly, the fitness trainers create an exercise routine and diet chart for us which helps us to gain muscles faster.

Many gyms and fitness centers also use gym management software that allows its members to track their fitness, manage their schedule, follow the diet plan created by their personal trainer, and so much more.

So, to gain the right amount of muscles and look and feel healthy, be sure to join a gym instead of trying to find out ways to gain muscles at home.
